UNIT on JAZZ!
Now that we've started our new unit on jazz (starting with ragtime and the origins of jazz), information about what we cover in class and assignments you recieve will be posted each week.
Assignment 1: Jazz Styles (200 words)
Due Date: 29th/30th April (2nd music period of the week)
- Log into http://www.wikipedia.com/ and run a search on JAZZ
- In the contents you will find many different styles of jazz (ie. Swing, Bebop, Cool Jazz etc.)
- Choose one of these styles to research
- Find at least 3 references (internet sites, books) to read and gather information about the style
- Information can include:
- what year or time period it was created
- where it was created and by which people
- any specific characteristics of the style (is it a mix of different jazz? what makes it unique from other styles etc.)
- musicians that were influential in the style
- any other relevant information
- The assignment should no shorter than 200 words.
- You must have a bibliography (a list of your references)

Welcome to all you need to know about your theory!
Through the different pages on the right you will find the various parts that you need to know for your test as well as for the rest of the year. Each different page will also have a summary to help you collect your information. Sound bytes and video clips will soon follow as well as practice questions to help you understand what it's all about.
